The sculpture was created in 2700 BC, and along with other artefacts, mostly notably the Standard of Ur, shed light on the extensive use of chariots by the Sumerians. The Sumerian civilization is considered to be the oldest and flourished from 5500 to 1800 BC in Mesopotamia.

This artistic presentation is based on a photo of the copper sculpture which can be found in the book titled, The Sumerians, authored by historian Samuel Noah Kramer.
