Wallpapers for Desktops and Mobile Phones: Gandharan Buddha, 2nd AD, Cave.

Download and decorate your desktop and mobile phone with artefacts, monuments and scenes from the past. This wallpaper features a photoart representation of a sculpture of Siddhartha Gautama, more commonly remembered as the Buddha. The sculpture was produced by the sculptors of Gandhara during the reign of the Kushans in the 2nd A.D., and was possibly among the first to represent the Buddha in human form. The wallpaper is based on a metal cast exhibit of the sculpture, housed with the National Museum in Delhi, India – see a photo of the metal cast sculpture below, lit up by indoor lighting.

Image is a Farbound.Net photo showing a standing sculpture of Siddhartha Gautama that was produced in the 2nd AD, Gandhara School of Art.

Personalize a Farbound.Net Digital Greetings Card with your very own message

The best way to customize a Farbound.Net Digital Greetings Card with your own message is to download the card as a PDF and then use a PDF service to fill in your own text. Most modern web browsers come with this facility.

For custom handwritten messages, opt for the option "Download as a PDF for Print".

What you also need to know before ordering.

We are doing away with the "Order Custom" option as this did not allow our customers to view in real time, their messages. Furthermore, not all Farbound.Net Greetings Cards are available with the "Download as PDF" option at the moment.

History: For many generations after the death of Siddhartha Gautama, the great sage and wise man, more commonly known as the Buddha, was represented by his followers with signs and symbols, essentially his birthmarks. It was only during the reign of the Kushans in the 2nd A.D. that the first sculptures of the Buddha began to emerge. This sculpture of the Buddha in the wallpaper was possibly among the earliest to be created. It comes from the ancient region of Gandhara where art was heavily influenced by Greeko-Roman styles.  It is displayed inside the National Museum Delhi. To know more, see the Farbound.Net story: The Greek Buddha, on the Farbound.Net website.
