Where there is the green, there is the butterfly.
A female of the Spangle Papilio Protenor species (identified by its orange bands with black spots on the underside) poises with stretched wings like some sleek future age plane still to be built in the days to come. Scrutinized under the microscope by researchers tasked with improving mechanical aerodynamics (see the Science Daily Article 2013), butterflies normally flutter off if one gets too close – and with legitimate reasons too. But this one preferred sticking to the greenery that abounds in the outskirts of Bhuntar instead.
Not everyone, takes a fancy for the dusty streets of Kullu Town during the festival of Dusshera – the Spangle one of them.
