History: This Digital Wallpaper features an AI art presentation of the Indo-Aryan god, Indra. In the Rigveda, the oldest canonical composition of the Indo-Aryan people, and who later were known as the Vedics, Indra is the most prominent and celebrated deity with the Rigveda alone comprising of 250 hymns addressed to him. In the Rigveda, Indra is not only the god of weather and war but also the king of the Devas. The text describes him as a large robust man with long hair and beard. His complexion is tawny, his hair and beard is the colour of a bright yellow sun. He rides a chariot pulled by tawny bay horses and his weapon of choice is a golden club/mace with spikes that he uses to either smash his opponents or produce lightning and thunder bolts. Furthermore, he is a hunter of the Varah (tusked wild boar) and has a huge appetite for roasted beef (oxen) and the Soma drink. In times of peril he is called upon by his devotes with fire rituals, Soma and sacrifice of Oxen to overcome their enemies - and which he does by smiting down all those who oppose the Indo-Aryans.
This art work is inspired by the description of Indra in the Rigveda. It shows Indra standing in an Indo-Aryan spoked wheel chariot pulled by a pair of tawny horses. He boasts of a robust and strong physique and his long hair and beard is the colour of a bright yellow sun while his complexion is tawny. On board the chariot is the carcass of a Varah (tusked wild boar) that he has hunted and nearby is an oxen being roasted in his honour. His golden spiked mace is shooting out a beam of lightning and causing havoc among the ranks of the enemy forces on the opposite bank of a frothy white and furious Saraswati river.
A group of Indo-Aryan tribesmen are standing near him. One of these men is an archer who has an arrow cocked for the enemy. Behind him is an Indo-Aryan sage offering prayers to him with folded hands. A third is offering him the intoxicating Soma drink in an earthen pot while the other is holding a spear. The Indo-Aryan tribesmen are bare chested with only a drape style garment covering their lower parts. All of them have been depicted with the historical weapons of the Indo-Aryan tribes including the spoked wheel chariot. Only Indra is holding a mace. In the background, upon a hill, is the fortified settlement of the BMCA - a subtle hint of the Indo-Aryan tribes stay in the rugged land of Afghanistan, before their migration into India.
